Center for Home Health Advocacy & Studies

Advocacy, Testimony , and Analysis for America’s Home Health Patients

The Center for Home Health Advocacy & Studies documents the lived experience of home health patients, exposes systemic failures, and advances reforms grounded in truth, clarity, and human dignity.

We document what home health really looks like — the lived reality, not the brochure. We bring forward the patterns families are forced to navigate alone. We expose the gaps the system hides behind paperwork and euphemism. And we translate the coded language of medicine into something a human being can understand.

🌿 Why CHHAS Exists

CHHAS exists because the American home‑health system was never built for people like me — or for the millions of Americans living with chronic, medically fragile conditions. Medicare designed home health as a short‑term, post‑acute service. It was meant for recovery after a hospitalization, not for the long, steady work of keeping a person stable at home.

But chronic illness is not short‑term. It does not resolve on a schedule. It does not fit the acute‑care mindset.

My own life makes this failure visible. When continuity is present, I remain stable. When continuity is withdrawn, I decline. When I decline, the system suddenly “qualifies” me again — because now I am acute. When the crisis resolves, the care disappears again. This cycle is not a personal misfortune. It is the predictable outcome of a system designed for the wrong purpose.

CHHAS was created to name this truth, document it, and demand reform. We study the incentives, regulations, and economic structures that shape home health — and we show how they fail the very people they claim to serve. We speak from lived experience, from data, and from the moral ground that chronic patients are not temporary, not optional, and not invisible.

We exist because continuity is not a luxury. We exist because stability is not an accident. We exist because dignity is not episodic. We exist because we need to.

WE ARE ABOUT MAKING THE HIDDEN VISIBLE

About US:

The Center for Home Health Advocacy & Studies exists to make the hidden visible and to restore dignity to those navigating care alone. Our work is grounded in lived experience, structural clarity, and the craft of truthful testimony. We stand with patients, families, and caregivers who face systems that too often obscure responsibility. Every page of this site is part of that effort — a record, a witness, and a call for moral repair.
